Hawai'i using the law as a Sword and a Shield?

10/01/09 | by admin | Categories: Politics

Hawaii Department of Health Director Chiyome Fukino’s press release of July 27, 2009 was a public statement. The UIPA (Hawaii open records law) at 92F-12(a)(15) states:

§92F-12 Disclosure required. (a) Any other provision in this chapter to the contrary notwithstanding, each agency shall make available for public inspection and duplication during regular business hours:

(15) Information collected and maintained for the purpose of making information available to the general public;

Fukino’s July 27th press release stated:

“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawai‛i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai‘i State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai‘i and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago.”

There were two very important pieces of information made available to the public in the above statement:

- “…Obama was born in Hawaii…”

- “…Obama…is a natural-born American citizen…”

Working with Large Formulas

With previous releases of Microsoft Office Excel, working within the formula bar at the top of the worksheet can be cumbersome, because although the formula bar expands when necessary, it often overlaps the sheet itself. To get around this in the 2007 Microsoft Office system, pause on the bottom of the formula bar, and then drag it to adjust it to any size you need. This adjustment gives you a larger working area and makes it easier to navigate a document sheet that has large formulas.

Paste into Non-sequential Cells in Excel
You can use the CTRL key for multiple selections. Sometimes, you want to copy a formula or piece of data into a series of non-sequential cells in Microsoft Office Excel. You can do this quickly without having to paste into each cell individually.
1. Copy the data from the source cell.
2. Hold down the CTRL key as you click to select each destination cell.
3. After all the cells are highlighted, paste the data by pressing CTRL+V. You have to paste only once.

Similarly, you can type data into a series of cells simultaneously.
1. While holding down the CTRL key, click all the cells that you want to type the same text (or value) into.
2. Type the entry, and then press CTRL+ENTER. The text will be added to all the selected cells.

Rearrange Paragraphs in Word

Swapping paragraphs in Microsoft Office Word can be complicated. As well as having to cut and paste, you often have to reformat line breaks afterward to make the paragraph line up properly. Instead, you can use the SHIFT+ALT keyboard shortcut.

Click the paragraph that you want to move, hold down SHIFT+ALT, and move the paragraph up or down by using the arrow keys. Each press of an arrow key causes your selected paragraph to jump over one adjacent paragraph.

Vista Internet Issue

10/13/08 | by Heather | Categories: General

I have ran into a few problems with Vista having some Internet problems. Wireless or Cat5. I have found that if you go inside Internet settings and turn off IPv6 it will work better. I think it is getting confused trying to figure out what connection to use. By turning this off, it will use IPv4 and work just fine. See step by step instructions below:

Start - Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center

On the side you will see another list of options, choose Manage network connections.

Right click on the connection you need to fix and select properties. Un-check the IPv6 box and click Ok.

If you are still having other Internet problems, please let me know and I will work on a fix for you.

Welcome to our new blogs.

In the interest of communicating on the web, we have decided that we will get in on the action of blogging. However, we wish for this to be something other than just a 'me too' effort and really try to reach out with valid information, tips, tricks and perhaps even a little levity from time to time.

This particular area is dedicated to Microsoft's Operating Systems XP and Vista. I have worked with XP for years now and know a lot about it. I have been using Vista off and on for about a year but have a laptop now with Vista Home Premium on it. And I hate to admit, but I actually like it. I see that people are having a lot of problems with Vista. If you are having problems, feel free to ask me questions and I will do my best to help you.

Please visit with us as we grow into this new type of media, and join in when you can.

Thanks for stopping by.

Give me a fuckin break - either love my country or get the hell out...

ESET NOD32 v3

12/25/07 | by Ken | Categories: New Software

I went ahead and purchased ESET's NOD32 version 3. It has a little larger footprint than the older version, but it is still small in comparison to other front-runners. Get the business version if you do not want the entire suite with a firewall, etc.

I can tell you that it is fast and reliable. It helped me clean a kids laptop that was infected with Vuntu, a task that Symantec could not do. Updates are fast and always on time (every hour, by default). It catches spyware, even ones that seem harmless. This product has my vote.

The business version comes with a central console that you can push installs, updates and even uninstall the clients with. All told, a very worthy product.

They have a trial version you can download, so go see for yourself.
